I'd like to tell you alittle about how Summerhill Kennels came to be. Well it all started in 1993 when I fell in love with the Golden Retriever, however looking back on it now I think my Mother fell even harder. I purchased my first Golden "Summer's Golden Pride" Christmas '93 and never looked back. Soon after that we added 2 more and then 4,5,6, and so on. We started out breeding local lines and selling pet quality Goldens locally. After a while we realized it was getting harder to find real quality Goldens and our breeding program needed a boost. We were producing nice dogs, but we wanted more. We wanted Good Looks, Stamina, Ability, Intelligence, Size, & above all Temperament. We named our place CCC Kennels and started our mission to improve our stock and produce our dream dogs. It took a long time and loads of travel but we finally had a good array of quality dogs to add to our program. I researched bloodlines, interviewed breeders, researched prodigy, whatever it took to find what we wanted. The dog we produce today is far superior to the dogs we began with. But in the eyes of the customers we have had over the years -- Our dogs have always been good dogs. In 2002 we decided to try a couple other breeds we had always had as pets. We had always loved our little house dogs - Chihuahuas & Dachshunds, and loved the new colors that where becoming available. So decided to learn more about what was involved in breeding a quality small dog. That is where I was introduced to the Pug - I fell for those even harder than the Goldens. We purchased a few nice breeding dogs and that is where it began. As far as maintenance I prefer a small dog where as my Mother loves her Goldens better than anything. With a change in focus and a new direction Summerhill Kennels was born.

My Mother & I are partners in this endeavor and work on improving everything constantly from our facilities to the dogs themselves. When you purchase one of our dogs you get a dog we personally would own. We do not breed mistakes here, all dogs are bred for certain reasons. We look for the strengths in both the Sire & Dam and thus move to produce a puppy with those same strong attributes. Everyone has different ideas about what they like or dislike, we try to get a feel for yours when you either visit or call. If we have something to fit the bill we will point it out or will give you the opportunity to chose with a few simple tips to help you decide. We aim to please by giving our puppies the best possible start in life. We can only do that by producing quality puppies and providing you with the best information.

As with anything that involves many years and dollars, it's a long story and I only listed the highlights. But I hope you got the just of it, that we truly love our dogs and would not produce anything we would not personally buy ourselves.
